Image Enhancement
Summary: XBrush image enhancement offers four AI tools: upscale (resolution boost), inpaint (partial replacement), outpaint (area expansion), and background removal. Use these tools to improve the quality of generated images or to rework their composition.
What Is Image Enhancement?
Image enhancement is XBrush's set of editing features that use AI to increase the resolution of an existing image, replace specific areas, or expand and remove backgrounds. Four tools are supported: upscale (5–15 credits), inpaint (5–20 credits), outpaint (10–25 credits), and background removal (3–10 credits). For exact credit consumption, refer to the Cost & Time Table.
Image Enhancement Overview

An overview of the key features and usage of the image enhancement tools.
Image enhancement includes the following four tools:
- Upscaler: Enlarges an image. Rather than a simple resize, it produces a high-quality enlarged result.
- Inpaint: Replaces a selected area inside an image with new content of your choice.
- Outpaint (Expand): Draws content beyond the edges of an image. Unlike upscaling, this does not increase the resolution of the existing image — instead, it generates new content around the outside of the original.
- Background Removal: Deletes the background from the selected image.
Upscaler: Increase Resolution

Increases the resolution of an image.
- When an image is enlarged, weak or broken pixels can appear. The upscaler fills those pixels based on the original image to produce a high-resolution, enlarged result.
- You can add an image by dragging it with your mouse, selecting a local file from the file browser, dragging a generated image into the panel, or pasting a snapshot.
- When you hover over a generated image, an upscaler button appears among the action buttons. Clicking it automatically adds the image to the upscaler.
- Once an image is selected, you can choose your desired output resolution.
- Finally, click the Run button to generate the high-resolution image.
